About the Center
The North Central Regional
Resource Center is one of six Regional Resource Centers
(RRCs) funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office
of Special Education Programs (OSEP). RRCs assist
state education agencies in the systemic improvement of
education programs, practices, and policies that impact
infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities
and their families. An important role of an RRC is to identify
and broker integrated solutions through ongoing state needs
assessment, consultation, information dissemination, and
technical assistance activities.
|
Our Mission
The North Central's mission
is to engage Region 4 states in the proactive identification
and implementation of technical assistance and dissemination
(TA&D) supports that lead to sustainable systems change.
These
efforts will be reflected by increased accountability and
improved results for infants, toddlers, children, and youth
with disabilities and their families.
|
Center Services
The North Central Regional
Resource Center will achieve its mission through a series
of coordinated activities:
 |
|
Strategic Planning and Reporting
will allow North Central staff to coordinate activities
within each state in Region 4 to match state improvement
needs with TA&D resources. North Central staff will
utilize information from major state data collection,
reporting, improvement, and accountability efforts
to assist states with identifying needs to develop
internal planning processes for statewide improvement. |
|
 |
|
State Level Technical Assistance
will be based on specific needs of states and local
education agencies and will involve such activities
as specialized consultation, process facilitation,
and training. |
|
 |
|
On-demand, Web-based information
from a variety of sources, including Communities
of Practice (CoPs), research-based practices, and
effective state data management and reporting practices
(CIFMS, NCLB), will be aimed at developing
State-to-State Networks to assist states in meeting
the requirements of various OSEP policies. |
|
 |
|
Cross-State Linking and Networking
will create opportunities to promote cross-state
relationships and collaboration. North Central staff
will encourage Region 4 states to actively participate
in OSEP’s Communities of Practice, develop state-to-state
peer networks in specific content areas for Part
B and C staff, and provide opportunities to promote
cross-state relationships and collaboration. These
efforts will be accomplished through Web-based CoP
technologies (Web site, listservs). |
