Indiana Department of Education Division of Exceptional
Learners
The Division of Exceptional Learners provides leadership
and state-level support for students with disabilities.
The division is tasked with ensuring that Indiana is in
compliance with the federal Individuals With Disabilities
and Education Act, through monitoring special education
programs, overseeing residential and community programs,
provision of mediation and due process rights, and sound
fiscal management. Visitors can find information on Indiana
continuous improvement monitoring process, laws and interpretations
relating to disabilities, Indiana academic standards and
diploma options, and other information on the division's
website.
Part C (Ages Birth-2)
Family
and Social Services Administration First Step
Indiana's First Steps provides early intervention for families
which have infants and toddlers with developmental delays
through a comprehensive coordination of statewide system
of local services. Visitors can access the First Steps website
for policy information, information on eligibility, services
available, and links to county specific First Steps websites.
The website also provides a central directory where visitors
can find information or post a question or comment on a
wide range of topics including information about a variety
of disabilities, therapies, assistive technologies, conferences,
workshops, and training events throughout the state and
around the world.

Indiana Resource
Center for Families with Special Needs
IN*SOURCE provides parents, families, and service
providers in Indiana with the information and training
necessary to help assure effective educational programs
and appropriate services for children and young adults
with disabilities. The organization administers many
different federal, state and local projects related to
the provision of information, training and support to
individuals with disabilities and their families.
